FARMERS
Solana S.p.A. has an annual production capacity of 200.000 tons of fresh tomatoes and about 6.000 tons of pumpkin.
To date, there are about 2.500 hectares cultivated for our company, for tomatoes they are supplied by the 5 most important associations for the Italian fruit and vegetable sector while for pumpkin they are supplied directly by producers.
Overall, we have about 220 farms that provide us the raw material necessary for our productions.
Solana S.p.A. promotes economic, social and environmental sustainability in tomato and pumpkin cultivation. It supports the guidelines for crops of interest, with the aim of implementing the best agricultural good practices for the consumer, the environment, workers in the sector and the farmers themselves.
Our farmers are committed to:
- Comply with the production regulations of Integrated Production or the regulations for Organic Production
- Comply with the regulations for the traceability and traceability of the supply chain (from field to fork)
- Use healthy, legally licensed water sources
- Comply with the provisions of current labor legislation which must be fair, equitable, legal and safe;
- Comply with the rules relating to the correct purchase, use, storage and disposal of plant protection products and waste, preferring the reuse or recycling of waste whenever possible.
In addition, Solana S.p.A. is committed to promoting the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, such as integrated or organic production, regenerative agriculture, precision agriculture and the circular economy of waste, in order to protect the environment and the consumer.
