SOLANA S.p.A. is a modern Tomato Industry located in Maccastorna (Lodi), in the Po Valley in northern Italy, and has an annual processing capacity of about 200.000 tons of fresh tomatoes. The total area of the site is 135,000 square meters, of which 27,000 square meters are covered.
Founded in 2001, it began its transformation activity in 2003. The company was founded as a joint-stock company with a capital of 7.590,000 Euros, by the will of a group of entrepreneurs, with the aim of creating a production site of excellence.
A modern industrial concept aimed at satisfying the needs of the customer and a particular sensitivity to market needs characterize this company that wants to establish itself in the European and World context with products with high quality standards.
The adoption and sharing of a philosophy of excellence in every business area, seriousness and commercial reliability, commitment and continuous research towards higher quality standards, are the heart of the current business strategy.
The processed tomato comes from integrated crops and is supplied by Producer Organizations that assist farms from sowing to harvesting, following the regional integrated pest management regulations in cultivation. The tomato comes from the Po Valley.
The core business of SOLANA S.p.A. is highly specialized in Business-to-Business.
From the beginning, Solana was oriented to the food industry channel with large packaging such as drums (215kg), Plastic Bins (1100kg approx.) and Metal Crate (1400kg approx.). Since 2011 the company has structured and dedicated a department to the production and packaging of the product in bag in box (5 and 10 kg) using an Ohmic pasteurizer, which by treating the tomato very quickly is able to maintain high organoleptic properties in the product. The Filling into the aseptic bag is carried out after cooling. Recently, this line has been duplicated with a new line with the same peculiarities. There is also another packaging line for 10 or 15 kg bag in boxes.
